Ascending above the Dudh Koshi River, we arrive at the quaint settlement of Macchermo, boasting teahouses and a health post. Continuing from Dole, we traverse beautiful meadows serving as yak pastures, adorned with shrines and prayer flags. In winter, these pastures lie barren, contrasting with their lush greenery in summer. Amidst this scenic route, the majestic Mt. Cho Oyu, the fifth tallest mountain globally, graces our path. Passing through Lapahrma village and Luja, we eventually reach our destination, Machhermo.
Today, we're off to explore the stunning Gokyo Lakes. We'll start with a short trek to Phanga, passing by memorials along the way. Positioned at an altitude that affords a sweeping 360-degree panorama, this vantage point offers unparalleled views of the Himalayas, including the iconic Mount Everest and the towering Tibetan peaks. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, we'll return to our guest house before continuing our journey towards Thangnak along the trail.
On this day, we'll tackle the tough terrain and icy paths to conquer the challenging Cho La Pass at 5368 meters (17611 feet). As we continue trekking, we'll reach Namche Bazaar, where we'll spend the night.
On our final day, we'll cross the iconic Hillary Bridge and trek through picturesque villages along the Dudh Koshi River towards Lukla. It's our last day in the mountains, so it's a good opportunity to express our appreciation to our guides and porters with a tip before departing from Lukla.
