While we plan to catch a local bus to Jagat, delays due to traffic are possible. For a smoother trip, you can opt for a private car or jeep to Jagat for an extra fee.
Following breakfast, we embark on the second day of our adventure. Departing from Jagat, we traverse a suspension bridge, arriving at the picturesque Tal Village, where cascading waterfalls converge into a serene river flanked by sandy beaches. Continuing our journey, we meander through vibrant fields of barley, rice, and potatoes, eventually reaching Kodo, a bustling village nestled within the Manang Valley. Our trek persists as we navigate across yet another suspension bridge, ascending to the stone Kani, a traditional archway marking our passage, before finally arriving at Dharapani, our tranquil haven for the night. Our path eventually leads us to Chame, the administrative hub of the Manang district. As we bid farewell to Pisang, our journey continues along the elevated trails through Geru, offering unparalleled vistas of the towering peaks of Annapurna II, III, and IV, along with Gangapurna, Tilicho, and Pisang Peak. Upon reaching Manang, we'll pause for a day to acclimatize to the higher altitudes, allowing our bodies to adjust to the increased elevation. Embarking on an early morning hike to Gangapurna Lake or Ice Lake promises breathtaking vistas of Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang, and Chulu Peaks, immersing us in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Himalayan landscape. Throughout the day, we can explore the quaint streets of Manang village, soaking in its rich cultural heritage and vibrant atmosphere. After approximately three hours of trekking, we arrive at the Tibetan settlement of Khangsar, where we can soak in the cultural richness of the region. Continuing onwards, we make our way to Shiri Kharka, surrounded by breathtaking vistas of Gungang Himal and the majestic Mt. Chulu, adding a touch of splendor to our trekking experience.
Setting out from Siri Kharka on the eighth day, our journey towards Tilicho Base Camp begins in the morning. While the path is generally straightforward, it traverses through areas prone to landslides, adding a sense of adventure to our trek. Along the way, we are treated to striking rock formations and awe-inspiring views of snow-capped peaks, with the majestic Tilicho Peak commanding attention amidst the rugged landscape, enhancing the allure of our trekking expedition
Embarking on one of the most anticipated days of our trek, we rise early at Tilicho Base Camp to seize the opportunity to witness Tilicho Lake in all its glory. With a challenging yet rewarding ascent, navigating steep terrain for two to three hours leads us to the breathtaking Tilicho Lake - revered as one of the highest lakes globally and fondly referred to as The Great Ice Lake by a renowned French expedition team. Surrounded by the majestic peaks of Tilicho Himal, the Annapurna Range, and Nilgiri Himal, the tranquil waters of Tilicho Lake offer a mesmerizing spectacle that captivates the senses. After soaking in the unparalleled beauty of the lake, we retrace our steps back to Siri Kharka, where we will conclude our day amid the serenity of the mountains.
Descending from Siri Kharka, our path leads us to the remote Khangsar Village, passing by the ancient Tare Gumba monastery nestled amidst the rugged landscape. Traversing along a rocky wall, we emerge into the Thorong Khola Valley, eventually arriving at Yak Kharka. En route, the breathtaking vistas of the Annapurna mountain ranges unfold before us, offering a captivating spectacle of nature's grandeur. Keep your eyes peeled, as the fortunate may catch a glimpse of elusive blue sheep or even the majestic snow leopard roaming these high-altitude terrains.
Ascending from Yak Kharka, the trail leads us steadily uphill to Thorong Phedi, the final settlement before reaching the formidable Thorong La Pass. oday marks the most challenging leg of our journey as we brave the ascent to Thorong La Pass, the highest point of our trek. Rising before dawn to evade the fierce winds, we begin our ascent from Thorong Phedi at 3 am, confronting the biting chill and thin air of high altitude. Upon reaching Thorong La Pass, the panoramic vistas are a stunning reward for our arduous climb. Gazing upon the majestic Himalayan peaks stretching northward into Tibet, and casting a glance back at the imposing silhouette of Annapurna, one cannot help but feel humbled by nature's grandeur. Descending from Thorong La Pass, we make our way to Muktinath, a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists alike. Known as Chumig Ghasa in Tibetan, Muktinath is famed for its 108 stone water spouts, symbolizing purity and spiritual cleansing. Here, the eternal flame, burning for over two millennia, serves as a testament to the enduring faith of pilgrims who have journeyed to this sacred oasis throughout the ages.
Following our spiritual exploration at Muktinath Temple, we embark on the next leg of our journey aboard a local bus bound for Tatopani. The rugged terrain, characterized by hairpin bends and dramatic landscapes, guides us through the heart of the world's deepest gorges. Driving for approximately 6-7 hours, covering a distance of 113km (70 miles), we pass through the lively Jomsom Bazaar, our route culminating in Tatopani, renowned for its natural hot springs. As dusk approaches, there's no better way to unwind than by indulging in a soothing soak amidst the therapeutic waters of these rejuvenating springs.
Ascending to Ghorepani on the fourteenth day, our journey takes us through the charming ethnic villages of Sikha and Chitre. Trekking amidst the verdant landscape, adorned with rhododendron, birch, and magnolia forests, we're treated to a spectacle of nature's vibrant hues, particularly during the blooming season when the rhododendrons paint the forest in shades of pink and bright red. Poon Hill, renowned as one of the world's most famous viewpoints, beckons us with its breathtaking sunrise spectacle. Rising early from Ghorepani, we embark on a brisk ascent along a steep trail, rewarded with awe-inspiring vistas as dawn unfolds over the majestic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The panoramic vista extends to encompass the Mustang and Pokhara regions, showcasing over 20 towering peaks. Poon Hill's ethereal beauty offers a haven for photographers, prompting us to capture the mesmerizing scenery. After immersing ourselves in the splendor of Poon Hill, we descend to Birethanti, where we board a bus bound for Pokhara via Nayapul.
After breakfast on our sixteenth day, we'll embark on a scenic journey back to Kathmandu via tourist bus, marking the conclusion of our trek package.
